That's what Mike called it.  The wrong road we took led us through such a fairytale land. It added some time onto our ride that day but it was a very beautiful mistake.

And this is where they get their mail.

Between Highway 1 and the 101 there is a maze of roads that connect the two.  You could probably spend a year riding back and forth between the two, seeing things that most people don't get to see.  And then....back to the ocean.

Excuses stink. Suffice it to say that the fact that I have not been able to find an internet system that takes under 10 minutes to load a photo has been very frustrating for me and disappointing to my readers.  Things will get better this week and I will post some of the photos I took along our trip down the #1 highway that follows the west coast to the Mexican border.

Although I have seen the redwoods before, the magnitude of their size and their magnificent beauty stuns me again.  I feel dwarfed and insignificant in their towering presence.

This tree was in our way.  It took awhile but finally we got through it with our little camping hatchet.

A few times along the way we took the wrong road and ended up inland for an hour or so. But then we found our way back and always ended up at the ocean again. That beautiful expanse of rock, sand and waves.
