We set up our tents for the last time in Colonia Vicente Guerrero.  the next day we road all the way to Yuma.  It was a long ride and I did not take out my camera.  I had my webcam on though and plan to create a site where the videos can be viewed.  I just tried to load some photos on here and I think I have reached my limit for the free website.  If I upgrade I will let you know on this blog. So don't go away.  I am now in Yuma and have an exciting plan for this week.....AFTER I rest up for a few days.  I still have a long journey home and who knows what will happen between now and then.  Life is full of surpr

If I take a long slow look at nature it speaks to me. I think that is what God intended it to do. There are parallels in nature where ever I look. Take this cactus for instance.  It can hold water for long periods of time, but if the rains never come it will succumb to the heat of the sun and turn into a skeleton..  It can be a refuge for birds as well as shade for a desert fox.  It can look at once dead and alive.  It can produce beautiful edible flowers and fruit. It can reproduce. It points at the sky where it's nourishment comes from.  The same sun that is it's friend can also be it's enemy. It's life's story depends on the elements.  This cactus has a story that is similar to many human lives. I hope that the elements that influence my life will leave some marks of beauty and that, like me, someone will say,  "Wow!  Look at that ugly cactus, isn't it awesome?"
What is this Lis?  Is it a Yucca or an aloe?  It appears to not have suffered at all.  It is just a child.
We had brought along a small jug of gas to make us feel better about the long highway between Bahia De Los Angeles and El Rosario.  We don't know for sure if we actually needed it but we put it in anyways and were pacified.  It was the only stretch of road that we were not sure about.

At Santa Rosalia the road turns away from the sea and remains inland for way too many miles.
But planted in the middle of the desert like mountains is an oasis called San Ignacio.  It sits on a fresh water river and lush date palms reach for the sun on either side. We found San Ignacio B&B where we had a much needed shower and stayed in Mongolian Yurts.  If it hadn't been for the exuberance of the young people with their woofers most of the night it would have been the ideal place for a rest. It was nice to not have to pitch the tents at the end of the day.
One of the old Mission churches that stand like sentinels in many of the old villages across the Baja. This one faces the town square where everything of import happens.
Our motorcycles could not carry enough fuel to ride the length of road between Santa Rosalia and Rosario, so we took a little 66 km detour and once again were at the Sea of Cortes. There we stayed for night and fuelled up. I had to stand my bike up to get the maximum amount of fuel in the tank to make sure I could go the maximum mms.
Above is a little restaurant where we had a hearty breakfast with some really bad coffee and a good waiter.  The skeleton is a hump back whale head.
Then we were off for another long ride through the desert.  I am not able to post my GoPro footage on this blog because it is a free blog. Maybe I should upgrade?  I have a lot of clips of some of the beautiful areas we rode through.  The battery does not last as long as I had hoped so I also missed getting some really good footage on some very windy roads.

What does this cat have to do with anything?  Cats are outnumbered by dogs in Mexico. As if they don't have enough trouble this skinny cat was chased up a tree by a dog on a leash at the end of which was a laughing tourist.  I don't understand this kind of behaviour but I guess it has been human nature to pick on minorities.  I felt like taking out my bear spray, not for the dog.

Blue....Blue...That beautiful Blue Sea!
We camped south of Mulege on one of those idillic little bays that won't let you pass by without at least dipping your toes into the water.
We met the most amazing fun couple, Dennis and Daphne are probably our favourite new Baja friends.  They live on Vancouver Island too so I will get to see them again.  Yeay!.......  We laughed lots together and they made us some really good coffee.  We ate some pretty darn good cookies together too!

Nothing like a walk in the sunrise.  Of course when you are tenting you HAVE to have a walk in the sunrise.  But the onsuite is gorgeous.

We tend to get lazy when the sun is hot, but we dare not lay still for too long.  Wouldn't want to be mistaken for carrion.
